Because research shows that information alone doesn’t prevent substance use, CWK created the Refuse, Remove, Reasons initiative, focusing on teaching refusal skills to assist teens when faced with the social pressure to use substances. Our five-part, evidence-based substance abuse prevention program for students aged 13 – 17 is featured on the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
This curriculum consists of four (4) class lessons and three (3) homework assignments using an interactive multimedia format designed to engage students that can be implemented in as little as four weeks. It includes accurate and age-appropriate information about alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, steroids, over-the-counter and prescription drugs, and the consequences of risk-taking behavior.
