Mrs. Jennifer Saunders has been an educational professional for 23 years. During the first 19 years of her career, she served as an elementary school classroom teacher and school library media specialist. She currently serves as the media specialist at large for Atlanta Public Schools. In this role, she provides support by developing and coaching the school library media specialists while planning district wide literacy events for students and staff. Her favorite event is the annual Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition – the superbowl of reading! In addition to working with the students in the City of Atlanta, Jennifer is a co-facilitator for the Academy of Future Teachers with the College of Education at Georgia State University. This summer program welcomes high school students in Metro-Atlanta to learn more about a career in education through demonstrations, lesson development and implementation. Jennifer also serves as the President of The Georgia Federation of Public Service Employees.
You can find Jennifer running through the parks and trails throughout the City of Atlanta, relaxing in the park while reading a book or volunteering with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
