ALISON YOSHIMOTO-TOWERY

Alison Yoshimoto-Towery is Executive Director of UC/CSU California Collaborative for Neuroscience, Diversity, and Learning, a state-wide collaboration of educational institutions and agencies.  Dr. Yoshimoto-Towery brings over three decades as a teacher, principal, director, district executive, and state policy leader to her role. As the former Chief Academic Officer of the Los Angeles Unified School District — one of the nation’s largest and most diverse school districts — she expanded early education opportunities, early literacy and numeracy supports, college access partnerships, financial aid and Dream Act completion, financial literacy, equitable grading and instruction, workforce development for youth, and community schooling. She also founded the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) student leadership roundtable to give young leaders a voice with top district decision makers. Dr. Yoshimoto-Towery is also a current member of the California State Board of Education.
